VELVET REVOLVER: First Tour Opener Announced, Warm-Up Date Rumor Fueled

May 3, 2004

According to a posting on their official web site, Philadelphia-based "classic rock" band SILVERTIDE will be opening for VELVET REVOLVER on the first six shows of their tour — between May 13 (St. Louis) and May 21 (Toronto).

In other news, the Roxy venue in West Hollywood, California has added more fuel to the rumor (exclusively reported here on April 15) that VELVET REVOLVER will be playing a "secret" club gig there on Sunday, May 9 by updating their online calendar with a "Surprise Guest TBA" show on that day.

As previously reported, VELVET REVOLVER's first-ever tour will officially launch May 13 in St. Louis, with dates currently scheduled through June 9. The band — who've only played one show before (last year in Los Angeles) — recently shot a video for their first single, "Slither", with director Kevin Kerslake (NIRVANA, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, IGGY POP).

VELVET REVOLVER's much-anticipated debut album, "Contraband", is scheduled for release on June 8 through RCA Records.
