VELVET REVOLVER: 'Contraband' Release Pushed Back To June

The release date of VELVET REVOLVER's much-anticipated debut album, "Contraband", has been postponed to June 8 from the previously announced May 18, according to the web site of the group's record label, RCA Records. No reason was given for the delay. The album's first single, "Slither", will be delivered to radio for airplay consideration in April, according to the radio industry trade publication FMQB (Friday Morning Quarterback).

VELVET REVOLVER will film a video for "Slither" in early April. Director Kevin Kerslake is shooting interior and exterior scenes in Los Angeles and Europe (including catacombs footage in France),while the band will film their performance in early April after bassist Duff McKagan and guitarist Slash return from an overseas promotion tour for the upcoming CD.

As previously reported, "Contraband" will include twelve of the more than fifty tracks the band co-wrote before and after vocalist Scott Weiland (ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) joined the lineup last spring. The CD was produced by Josh Abraham (LIMP BIZKIT, STAIND) and mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, WHITE ZOMBIE, LINKIN PARK, SLAYER, SEPULTURA). Mastering took place on December 19 in New York City.
