VELVET REVOLVER: 'Contraband' Certified Platinum
VELVET REVOLVER's "Contraband" has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), signifying shipments of more than 1,000,000 units (with 707,832 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan). The album's first single, "Slither" has held the No. 1 spot on all rock formats for four weeks straight.
"Contraband" debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, selling over 250,000 copies. Notably, this marks the best-ever debut for a new rock artist in the SoundScan era.
VELVET REVOLVER shot a video for their second single, "Fall to Pieces", this past weekend on the Santa Monica pier. The clip reportedly features all bandmembers and their wives in the setting of the old 1970s Starwood Club.
