VADER's MAUSER Says 'Alcohol Problem' Led To Drummer's Departure

April 21, 2005

VADER guitarist Mauser recently spoke to Abrasive Rock about the departure of longtime drummer Doc and the status of Mauser's DIES IRAE project. A couple of excerpts from the interview follow:

Abrasive Rock: Peter put in his release about Doc [being released from] the band, he said it was due to his "weakness" and there's been rumors floating around that it had to do with some substance abuse problems. Do you care to confirm or deny any of those rumors?

Mauser: "This is hard to say. Our old drummer Doc, he had a problem with alcohol and this is the problem. Maybe in the future, if he will be alright, he may be back in the band. Maybe someday. We will see what happens.

Abrasive Rock: What is going on with [DIES IRAE] at the moment? Are you guys planning on any new releases soon or any tours?

Mauser: "In the next year we have to record the new album with DIES IRAE. Now, after the European tour we were on tour with DECAPITATED in Europe and now it's VADER's time and we've got a lot of shows in America. After this tour we're going to South America. Maybe next year we will find some time for the recording of a new album. But we'll be doing this in the beginning of the New Year."

Abrasive Rock: Are you able to find time for both bands without one band getting too much in the way of the other or is it difficult to have both bands going?

Mauser: "It's difficult because there is a lot of work. You have to record a new album with VADER and after that you have to record a new album with my side project, DIES IRAE, and this is a hard job, man."
