THE ROYAL HIGHNESS Recruits Former GODHEAD Drummer

May 14, 2010

Ty Smith (formerly of GODHEAD, BULLETS AND OCTANE and THE VANDALS) has joined THE ROYAL HIGHNESS on drums, replacing original member Karl Rosqvist, who left the band to join ex-HANOI ROCKS lead singer Michael Monroe's new solo group.

Comments guitarist Todd Youth (ACE FREHLEY, ex-D-GENERATION, DANZIG): "I was really bummed out when Karl decided to leave the band; we worked together for a long time in THE CHELSEA SMILES, I brought him in to play drums on the last tour I did with DANZIG, SON OF SAM's last record, traveled all over the world together, but all good things come to an end and myself and the band wish him the best of luck.

"After auditioning a handful of really great players, we're glad to welcome aboard the one and only Ty Smith!!!!!

"It took about 30 seconds of playing together to know we found our new drummer. He's a monster player. For god's sake, he was filling in for Josh Freese in THE VANDALS when he was still a teenager!!! Plus Ty and our singer Skye were in BULLETS AND OCTANE together so there's some history already there.

"I'm very excited to be working with Ty; he's one of the best drummers in Los Angeles and I can't wait to get out and take it to the stage."

Ty Smith will make his live debut with THE ROYAL HIGHNESS on May 20 at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, supporting secret surprise guest "CRADLE OF LOVE" (hint, hint, he's a rebel who likes to yell).

THE ROYAL HIGHNESS is putting the finishing touches on its debut album with producer Howard Willing (SMASHING PUMPKINS, LISA MARIE PRESLEY, CHEAP TRICK). A late 2010 release is expected.
