THE FIFTH SUN Begin Recording New Album

June 4, 2004

Minnesota-based melodic death metallers THE FIFTH SUN have commenced the recording sessions for their second album, "The Hunger to Survive", at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. The album will feature the drum talents of Patrik J. Sten (PASSENGER, KEROZENE, ex-TRANSPORT LEAGUE) and artwork by renowned artist Mattias Noren. "The Hunger to Survive" is the follow-up to the group's debut album, "The Moment of Truth", which was recorded at Studio Fredman in May of 2001.

Commented the band: "The end of the first full week brings the recording of the drums and rhythm guitars to a close. Everything is sounding tight and in your face. Speaking of in your face, we are proud to announce Patrik J. Sten as the permanent replacement on drums. After getting here and hearing what Patrik had done with the drums, we couldn't get over how much we felt things were as a complete band. So we decided together something this good should not be only a session type thing, but rather join forces to punish the unsuspecting public. He will play all shows with us from this point on, so prepare to grab your ankles. We also finished a photo shoot with Snowy Shaw, Needless to say we look like fucking thugs, a job well done. These photos, as well as the finished cover art, will appear on our website in the next week or so. The artwork, courtesy of Mattias Noren, is mind-blowing. Bass guitar is up next, so the heavy is only going to get heavier."
