THE AGONIST's VICKY PSARAKIS: 'I'm Not The Only Girl In The Band'

November 17, 2014

Vocalist Vicky Psarakis of Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based melodic death metallers THE AGONIST has posted a 12-minute video clip in which she answers fan-submitted questions. Check it out below.

Asked what it's like being the only girl in the band, Vicky said: "Well, it doesn't feel like I'm the only girl in the band. Not to say that the guys are girls [laughs], I just mean that it's not awkward at all. Above all, we're friends, and it seems strange that I've only known the guys for not even a year now, because we just communicate very well and they are very respective [sic]. It feels great. I'm not the only girl in the band. [laughs]"

THE AGONIST will release its new album, "Eye Of Providence", on February 24 in North America (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media. The band's first CD with Psarakis was recorded at The Grid studio in their hometown with producer Chris Donaldson (CRYPTOPSY). Vicky joined THE AGONIST as the replacement for Alissa White-Gluz, who left the band to focus on her new gig as the frontwoman of ARCH ENEMY.

Commented THE AGONIST guitarist Danny Marino: "We decided to go with a different medium for the cover art of 'Eye Of Providence'. We went with real photography and objects rather than hand drawn or CG as we have in the past. Deepti Suddul provided the awesome closeup of the human eye. After that, we passed it to Aaron Marsh who took our lyrics and concept to make the amazing cover art and album layout."

"Eye Of Providence" track listing:

01. Gates Of Horn And Ivory
02. My Witness, Your Victim
03. Danse Macabre
04. I Endeavor
05. Faceless Messenger
06. Perpetual Notion
07. A Necessary Evil
08. Architects Hallucinate
09. Disconnect Me
10. The Perfect Embodiment
11. A Gentle Disease
12. Follow The Crossed Line
13. As Above, So Below

THE AGONIST released a two-song digital single on April 29 via Century Media. These tracks were the first to feature Psarakis.

Commented Marino: "Creating this album has been an amazing experience.

"Vicky has breathed new life into the songwriting process.
"The songs on this album represent a culmination of the past 10 years, as well as a new beginning for THE AGONIST.

"We can't thank our fans enough for their ongoing support in this new and exciting chapter of THE AGONIST!"

THE AGONIST 2014 is:
