Sweden's FREAK KITCHEN Confirmed For PROGPOWER USA VII Festival

January 22, 2006

Swedish heavy rock band FREAK KITCHEN have been confirmed for the ProgPower USA VII festival, set to take place September 15-16 at Earthlink Live in Atlanta, Georgia. Also scheduled to appear are the German power metal band SAVAGE CIRCUS (featuring former BLIND GUARDIAN drummer Thomen Stauch and IRON SAVIOR vocalist/guitarist Piet Sielck),Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA, PYRAMAZE (featuring Lance King, former vocalist for BALANCE OF POWER) and WASTEFALL.

Formed in 1992, FREAK KITCHEN's music is said to be inspired by many genres besides the traditional heavy metal. Influences range all the way from jazz to pop, and the band described their third album as "a corny little heavy-pop-rock-latin-world-jazz-avant-garde-metal-blues record." The group's lyrics contain heavy criticism against society and the band's distaste for huge record companies, and what they believe to be soulless people. Guitarist/vocalist Mattias "IA" Eklundh is noted to be an excellent axeman, and live shows often feature Eklundh playing the guitar using several foreign objects, including a vibrating dildo. Eklundh has also released three solo albums: "Sensually Primitive" (1997) (under the pseudonym Mr. Libido),"Freak Guitar" (1999) and "Freak Guitar - The Road Less Traveled" (2004).

FREAK KITCHEN released their sixth album, "Organic", in April 2005.

Tickets for the ProgPower USA VII festival will go on sale Saturday, April 1 at 10 a.m. EST via all Ticketmaster outlets. Only 900 tickets will be made available to the public. Advance Gold Badges, which presently have a two-year wait list, are sold out.

ProgPower USA has sold out more than four months in advance for the past four years. Last year's festival sold out in a record four days.
