SWALLOW THE SUN: Ten New Songs In The Works

January 17, 2011

Finnish doom metallers SWALLOW THE SUN have issued the following update:

"This year, 2011, we are going to keep things a bit more quiet and start preparing for the next SWALLOW THE SUN album, which will be released at the end of this year or in the beginning of 2012... Yeah, if the world doesn't end! Ten new songs are already in the works, but we are not going to rush with recording, album release or new tours because our bodies, hair and especially livers just can't handle it yet, folks!! We might do a few selected shows and festivals this year if it fits in with our plans, but otherwise this year is going to be a dark road of solitude towards new depths of gloom, beauty and despair — the sixth chapter of SWALLOW THE SUN.

"New Moon", the fifth album from SWALLOW THE SUN, landed at position No. 148 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists (defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200).

"New Moon" entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 10. The CD, which was released on November 10, 2009 via Spinefarm Records, was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with such acts as KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST and AMON AMARTH. Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, ex-ROTTEN SOUND) has been recruited to play drums on the album following the recent departure of longtime skinsman Pasi Pasanen.

A mini-site for the CD can be accessed at this location.
