SUPLECS To Play First Post-Katrina Show This Weekend

November 21, 2005

SUPLECS, whose new full-length album, "Powtin' on the Outside, Pawty on the Inside" (Nocturnal Records),was produced by CORROSION OF CONFORMITY frontman Pepper Keenan, will play first post-Hurricane Katrina show in New Orleans on Thanksgiving weekend. The concert will take place at One Eyed Jacks, in the French Quarter, on Sunday, November 26. Doors are at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $7.00. HAZARD COUNTY GIRLS (also from New Orleans) will play at 10:00 pm. SUPLECS will headline at 11:00 pm.

SUPLECS were devastated by Hurricane Katrina, as were all New Orleans denizens. "I do construction," drummer Andy Preen recently told an interviewer, "so at present I'm helping rebuild our city. Gutting houses, rebuilding and mending homes. Danny [Nick, bass player] and his fiancée lost a lot due to the hurricane, so they're working outside of New Orleans right now until their house is repaired." He concluded "It's impossible to put into words how sad this devastation is and how far the span of the disaster spreads. But we're all optimistic and will continue to do what we can to work towards the reconstruction of the city." Durel Yates (vocals and guitar) added, "We have been doing the best that we can under the circumstances. We have all been affected in different ways and unfortunately we are all living in different places right now. All of the members of SUPLECS were born and raised in New Orleans so it means a lot to us to see the city we love rebuilt and restored."
