SPEEDY GONZALES Sign With AOR HEAVEN RECORDS

March 4, 2004

SPEEDY GONZALES, the Swedish melodic hard rock outfit featuring former CANDLEMASS/TALK OF THE TOWN vocalist Thomas Vikström and TALISMAN/ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN bassist Marcel Jacob, will release a new album in July on the AOR Heaven label.

Founded in early 1990 by Vikström, Tommy Denander (guitars, RADIOACTIVE, DEACON STREET, AOR) and Dalton Dahlberg (drums, DALTON),the band landed a management deal with Anders Tengner (currently editor-in-chief of Sweden's biggest pop magazine OKEJ),and played their first live show in 1990 with CANDLEMASS and PRETTY MAIDS at a festival in a big hockey arena in Sweden. After writing a few songs, the band recorded an eight-track demo which Anders used to shop around for a record deal. A short time later, Tommy decided to quit the group for personal reasons, and after some failed attempts to replace him, SPEEDY GONZALES finally called it a day.

Throughout the years, the eight-track demo SPEEDY GONZALES had recorded has become a cult classic and a hard-to-get bootleg CD had been issued containing the original recordings. Now, 14 years later, the band have decided to reform and will release a full-length album containing s seven newly recorded original songs from the demo plus a new version of the TALK OF THE TOWN hit "Free Like An Eagle" as well as four new songs written by the group's current lineup.

Thomas Vikström (ex-CANDLEMASS, TALK OF THE TOWN) - Vocals
Tommy Denander - Guitars & keyboards
