Sources: COLD To Carry On Following Guitarist's Defection To EVANESCENCE

January 17, 2004

COLD have no intentions of breaking up following the apparent defection of guitarist Terry Balsamo to EVANESCENCE, a source close to the band has told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.

The group, whose latest album, "Year of the Spider", has sold 458,073 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, are expected to release a new single soon. Additionally, Geffen Records are said to have recently notified the band of their intention to exercise the option on COLD's next album.

As reported here yesterday, EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee announced Balsamo's promotion to a full-time member of the group (he was previously filling in for their performance at the American Music Awards and several live gigs) during an interview with Australian web site Undercover Media on Friday (Jan. 16),before the band performed their final show of a Down Under tour.

COLD, whose singer, Scooter Ward, was alleged by Lee to currently be "in and out of rehab and having real problems," have yet to announce a replacement for Balsamo.
