SOULFLY Explain WINDOW ROCK FEST II Cancellation

SOULFLY have issued a statement explaining their reasons for cancelling a scheduled appearance at the Window Rock Fest II in Window Rock, Arizona on Saturday (August 14).

The festival organizer, Randall Hoskie of Rancid Savage Productions, claimed in an interview with NativeTimes.com that SOULFLY complained the crowd was small and the stage lighting and sound was inadequate. In addition, he stated that the band still pocketed the $5,000 guarantee before driving down the road to their next gig in Tempe. SOULFLY were scheduled to receive another $5,000 from ticket sales after the Window Rock show.

In a statement forwarded to BLABBERMOUTH.NET via the group's record label, Roadrunner Records, the Max Cavalera-fronted band wrote: "SOULFLY would like to issue an apology to our fans in Window Rock, AZ for the last-minute postponement of the show at Dean C Jackson Memorial Arena. We did not want to postpone the show, but had to, due to numerous problems with the production as well as the weather conditions on the outdoor stage. We have every intention of coming back to the area and making it up to all who came out to see us as soon as possible."

A Roadrunner Records representative added in a brief note, "[The cancellation] had more to do with the promoter being ill-prepared for the show than the rain, but the weather was a hazard — as of 5:30pm they were being told they could not even load their gear onstage because of weather."
