SONATA ARCTICA, MNEMIC and FINNTROLL are among the bands confirmed to perform at the Finnish Metal Expo, set to take place at the old Cablefactory in Helsinki, Finland, on January 28-29, 2005.

On Friday, January 28, the Finnish Metal Expo presents MNEMIC from Denmark, who will play their "hybrid fusion future metal" in Finland for the first time. The headliner for Friday are legendary old-school favorites TAROT, spearheaded by NIGHTWISH bass player Marco Hietala. Other confirmed artists for Friday are MACHINE MEN, TOTAL DEVASTATION, CALLISTO, GODSPLAGUE and PAIN CONFESSOR.

Saturday will be headlined by the most popular Finnish melodic metallers of the moment, SONATA ARCTICA. The band's latest effort, "Reckoning Night", has remained steadily in the Finnish charts since its release. Also appearing on the bill, are FINNTROLL, who enjoy cult status among metalheads throughout the world with their twisted folkish metal. The fresh blood of Finnish metal is represented by newcomers PURITY, HEVEIN and the new hopes in thrash/death, THE SCOURGER. More additions will be announced during the coming weeks.

Finnish Metal Expo will also present instrument cllinics, where leading metal musicians will display their skills for teaching purposes. On Friday, Kai Hahto, the drummer extraordinaire for ROTTEN SOUND and WINTERSUN, will show how far you can take metal drumming. On Saturday, the Musamaailma music shop will present a guitar workshop with MOKOMA axemen Tuomo Saikkonen and Kuisma Aalto as well as the young guitar sensation Petteri Sariola. More workshops will be announced later.

Finnish Metal Expo deploys a vast array of exhibitors from the Finnish metal music industry. From agencies to record labels to merchandisers, everyone is present. At this point, the list of exhibitors includes such brands as King Foo Entertainment, Spinefarm Records, Firebox Records, Fullsteam Records, Dynamic Arts Records, EMI, Welldone Agency & Promotion, Sauna Open Air Metal Festival and Tuska Open Air metal festival. The number of exhibitors is increasing daily.
