SOILWORK Singer Comments On Making Of 'Stabbing The Drama' Video

January 6, 2005

SOILWORK vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"It's been pretty long since we posted any news after the new album was finished, we apologize for that! Everybody in the band has been taking a break and been celebrating X-mas and New Year's Eve.

"We have been doing some promotion in between though: I did some promotion in Japan while I was there with my wife and the other guys in the band have done some promotion at home, everybody seems to be very positive about the new album!

"Just before X-mas I also recorded the video for the first single of the album, the title track 'Stabbing the Drama'. The video director's idea was to have only me in the video, to make something different than just a band video and more like a one-person performance with a little story around it.

"I can tell you it was fucking freezing out there (10 -C) but luckily there was a lot of burning car wrecks in the video that I could get at least some heat from... It became pretty chaotic sometimes during the recording since I was just in front of the burning wrecks while people where throwing diesel.

"It was pretty fucking close that I caught fire several times, but it surely was an interesting experience... I really believe it's gonna be a kick-ass video, which probably will stand out a lot... Watch out for the video, which will be released around one month before the release!!"

As previously reported, the limited-edition European/U.S. version of "Stabbing the Drama" will include a bonus track, entitled "Wherever Thorns May Grow". The Japanese edition will feature "Wherever Thorns May Grow" and an additional bonus cut by the name of "Killed by Ignition".

The follow-up to 2003's "Figure Number Five" was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro and Dug-Out Productions in Uppsala, Sweden with producer Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STUCK MOJO). A February 28, 2005 European release through Nuclear Blast Records is expected (March 1 in the U.S.).

With regards to the new material, SOILWORK vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid recently said, "In my ears it sounds like a mixture between 'Natural Born Chaos' (2002) and our latest effort, 'Figure Number Five' with a slight and interesting development."
