SOILENT GREEN Drummer Joins JONES'S LOUNGE

August 30, 2002

New Orleans-based JONES'S LOUNGE, featuring Kyle Thomas (EXHORDER, FLOODGATE),Dax Thieler (GREEN LEAF CULT),and Jason Portera (PITS VS. PREPS),have begun rehearsing with SOILENT GREEN drummer Tommy Buckley. However, "this is not an indication that Tommy is leaving SOILENT GREEN," stated Thomas. "It's merely a situation that presented itself. Tommy and I have been friends for a very long time and jammed in a band together called DRIP back in the early 90's with Jim Bower (DOWN, C.O.C., SUPERJOINT RITUAL, EYEHATEGOD),Brian Patton (SOILENT GREEN, EYEHATEGOD),Mike Williams (EYEHATEGOD) and Ross Karpelman (CLEARLIGHT). Tommy's fantastic at thrash drumming, but surprisingly formidable at the stripped-down, fundamental four- or five-piece drumming style. Guess it's something in the water down here..."

As previously reported, JONES'S LOUNGE recently recorded an 11-song album with producer (and former UGLY KID JOE guitarist) Dave Fortman at Fortman's Balance Studio in Lousiana. Bower laid down drums on nine of the numbers, while Portera played on the remaining two. No release date has yet been announced for the effort, which may or may not be made available independently.
