SLIPKNOT's CLOWN To Make Feature Directing Debut With 'Officer Downe'

July 15, 2013

According to Deadline.com, SLIPKNOT mastermind/percussionist M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan will make his feature directing debut with "Officer Downe", adapted from the graphic novel created by Joe Casey and artist Chris Burnham.

Casey wrote follows the script about a Los Angeles cop who is routinely killed in the line of duty, but is telekinetically resurrected by his superiors and sent back onto the streets.

"'Officer Downe' is a story that taps into that primal myth of the unkillable cop," Casey told Comic Book Resources. "Even in the Bible, you can find exploits of law enforcement officers who were so dedicated to their mission that they could not be stopped by any means. I think Joseph Campbell even wrote a chapter about it in 'Hero With A Thousand Faces'."

A video clip of Crahan introducing the project can be seen below.

Crahan recently revealed that he plans to make a documentary on eating disorders.

A founding member of SLIPKNOT, Crahan has previously directed the band DVDs "Disasterpieces", "Voliminal: Inside The Nine", "Of The (sic)", and "(sic)nesses: Live At Download". He has also directed a number of the band's videos.

Crahan told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how he goes about putting together the pieces for the band's DVDs. "I look for the thing that makes me taste and smell and gets me excited, you know," he said. "I look for those things to start it off, and once I have a few of those, then I get going. And then the plot goes from there."
