SLAUGHTER/STRAPPADO Drummer BRIAN LOURIE Dies At 39

October 2, 2008

Vocalist/guitarist Dave Hewson of the legendary Canadian band SLAUGHTER (which later evolved into STRAPPADO) has issued the following update:

"[I] just wanted to let everyone know that longtime drummer for SLAUGHTER and STRAPPADO, Brian Lourie, has died of a heart attack at the young age of 39. Brian was one of the best people I have ever met and was a huge part of SLAUGHTER joining in 1987-88 'till we disbanded in 1992. His sense of humor and love for life made him such a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. I will try to [release] more info as it comes. Love you, bro."

Poland's Metal Mind Productions re-released the two albums from SLAUGHTER"Strappado", the debut album from 1986 featuring an extremely brutal combination of death and trash metal, spiced with some punk and hardcore influences; and "Not Dead Yet/Paranormal", the compilation album from 2001 — in May in Europe (July in the USA via MVD). The limited-edition digipack titles (limited to 2,000 copies) was made available on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology.
