SILVERCHAIR Frontman DANIEL JOHNS Covers NIRVANA, Prepares To Release New Music

January 21, 2015

SILVERCHAIR frontman Daniel Johns performed a heartfelt version of the NIRVANA classic "Smells Like Teen Spirit" at this past Friday's (January 16) "Beat The Drum" event in Sydney, Australia. Johns was watched by 25,000 fans in attendance as he turned the song into a slow piano ballad, backed by a harpist.

Prior to his "Beat The Drum" appearance, Johns hinted that he may be releasing new music at the end of the month. He posted an image to his Facebook page containing a picture of what looks like cover art a new release called "Aerial Love", along with a date of January 29.

Johns recently made headlines when he plead guilty to a drunk driving charge in Newcastle, Australia related to an incident that occurred last October. He has since been ordered to participate in a traffic offenders program and his case has been adjourned for sentencing until February 26.

SILVERCHAIR has been inactive since announcing an "indefinite hibernation" in 2011. Their last album, "Young Modern", came out in 2007.
