SHINING Names New Drummer

June 3, 2007

Jarle "Uruz" Byberg (URGEHAL, PHILOMEL'S EPITAPH, VULTURE LORD) has been named the new permanent drummer in Niklas Kvarforth's SHINING. He will take over the drum duties in the Swedish black metal outfit following the departure of SPIRITUAL BEGGARS' Ludwig Witt.

SHINING will introduce the new lineup at the Hell's Pleasure festival, set to take place July 21-22 at Motocross-Strecke in Pößneck, Germany. The will also perform at the Dunkelheit festival on September 1 in Brno, Czech Republic.

Osmose USA/The End Records has set a June 26 release date for the new album from SHINING, titled "V - Halmstad".

According to a press release, "SHINING's fifth recorded depression is no less than a monument of beauty in blackness and ghostly shades. From the early black metal influences of the cult act remains the sensation of illness, reinforced by some of the most possessed vocal parts howling from Kvarforth's tortured soul. The psychologically confused singer (who had vanished for a couple of weeks last August, letting his comrades think he might have killed himself) proves on SHINING 'V' that he's back from the dark side sicker than ever before. While in the meantime, the band displays a mix between sheer heaviness and sublime atmospheric moments, with a special mention to the amazing acoustic guitar work delivering eerie melodies as well as masterclass skills when it comes to lead parts. 'V' is truly one of a kind. Handle with care, but for art's sake, handle now."

"V - Halmstad" track listing:

01. Yttligare Ett Steg Narmare Total Javla Utfrysning
02. Langtar Bort Fran Mitt Hjarta
03. Lat Oss Ta Allt Fran Darandra
04. Besvikelsens Dystra Monotoni
05. Attiosextusenfyrahundra
06. Neka Morgondagen

Longtime friends Kvarforth and Maniac (SKITLIV, TEAM ARMSTRONG, ex-MAYHEM),two of black metal's most controversial frontmen, were the featured guests on the May 7, 2007 edition of the "Conte and Kenny Show" on Cringe Humour Radio. Download and listen to the program at this location (MP3, 107 MB; the interview begins roughly one hour into the show and lasts about 25-30 minutes).

SHINING filmed its controversial February 3, 2007 concert at Diezel in Halmstad, Sweden for an upcoming DVD, entitled "Fy Fan För Livet!" In addition to the live footage, the disc will consist of a two-hour "road movie" and the promotional video for the new song "Låt Oss Ta Allt Från Varandra". SHINING's setlist spanned the band's entire career and the show featured guest appearances by members of MAYHEM and CARPATHIAN FOREST.
