SHINEDOWN: New Lineup Revealed

Jacksonville, Florida-based hard rock/post-grunge band SHINEDOWN has announced the departure of guitarist Jasin Todd just two days after Todd was arrested on disorderly intoxication and resisting-an-officer charges.

Singer Brent Smith explained in an online posting, "I love Jasin like a brother, we all do he'll always be family and we hope all of the best for him but, at this time, he's no longer with us in SHINEDOWN. This all went down awhile ago, and I'm sorry to break this news today. I realize that this isn't the best timing, but with stuff like this, there really isn't ever a good time. We just felt like we couldn't wait any longer and had to let you all know." He added, "We've brought an old friend into SHINEDOWNNick Perri. Nick's an amazing guitarist and we've known him forever from our days on the road with SILVERTIDE (many of you were probably at those shows and remember him too)."

SHINEDOWN also announced the addition of new bassist Eric Bass, who was described by Smith as "a fantastic musician and all-around great guy."

According to FirstCoastNews.com, Todd was staggering in the middle of Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville shortly before 2:00 a.m. this past Wednesday (April 9) when an officer shined his vehicle's spotlight on Jasin. Todd then looked at the officer and ran. The officer ordered Jasin to stop. He did not.

The officer then got out of his vehicle and chased Todd on foot. Again, the officer ordered Jasin to stop. He replied, "No, someone is following me."

After a struggle, Todd was handcuffed and taken to Duval County Jail.

According to the police report, Todd admitted to taking Xanax earlier in the evening.

SHINEDOWN has set "The Sound of Madness" as the title of its third album, due this summer. The first single, "Devour", is expected to go for radio adds on May 6.

Regarding the upcoming CD, Brent Smith told Billboard.com in an August 2007 interview; "It's time to just go over the top, literally go above and beyond what a human being thinks they're capable of recording. We want to do a huge hard rock record that has a lot of crossover potential, but also some of the most insanely intense and heavy material that this band has ever tried and see if we can pull it off."

SHINEDOWN will perform at Rock on the Range festival on May 17 at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The band is also scheduled to appear at the 2008 Pointfest on May 18 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis, Missouri.
