New Zealand's SHIHAD have decided to keep their name despite previous reports indicating that the group would be altering their moniker due to the similarities to the Islam word for Holy War jihad. According to Australia's Undercover web magazine, SHIHAD were ready to announce the new name REMOTE but found out at the last minute that an American band already has it. Lead vocalist Jon Toogood reportedly stated that the band will hold on to the name SHIHAD for as long as they can in hopes that the negative connotations with their name will be gone by May when they will be ready to release their The Label/Warner Bros. Records debut, which is currently being recorded with producer Josh Abraham (i.e. STAIND, ORGY).
