SENTENCED: 'Farewell' Gig Sold Out In Less Than An Hour

SENTENCED's "farewell" gig on " on Saturday, October 1, 2005, at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland sold out within an hour after tickets went on sale this past Wednesday (August 31),according to a posting on the group's official web site. As a result, the band have added another how at the same venue on September 30. "This is not another 'funeral' gig but yet not regular gig," the posting adds. "Band has planned to play 1.5 hours," Tickets for the gig will go on sale on September 7.

SENTENCED's final CD, "The Funeral Album", reached position No. 1 on the official Finnish chart, No. 49 on the German chart and No. 59 on the Austrian chart upon its release in late May.

Guitarist Sami Lopakka commented: "We decided to finish our career with this album, and knew already in the writing-process that this one would become our last. It is a farewell album and this is the funeral tour."

SENTENCED's "very last show" on October 1, 2005, at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland will be filmed and recorded, and released in early 2006 as a live DVD (tentatively titled "Buried Alive").

The follow-up to 2002's "The Cold White Light", "The Funeral Album" was recorded primarily at Finnvox and Tonebox studios (both in Finland),and mixed and mastered at Finnvox. Producing the effort was Hiili Hiilesmaa, who also worked with the group on their last two albums, 2000's "Crimson" and "The Cold White Light".
