SCAR SYMMETRY To Perform At DreamHack Convention

October 2, 2009

Swedish progressive melodic death metallers SCAR SYMMETRY have been confirmed to perform at this year's winter edition of DreamHack, the world's biggest digital convention event.

DreamHack is set to take place November 26-29, 2009 at Elmia in Jönköping, Sweden. SCAR SYMMETRY will perform on the main stage on November 26 at 21.00 CET.

Commented the band: "We can't wait to bring all you LAN lovers a healthy dose of melodic death metal! After the show, we'll stay off the booze and instead indulge in online gaming and Jolt cola! Be there or be a lame n00b!!!"

Added David Garpenståhl, CEO of DreamHack, "We are excited to have SCAR SYMMETRY kicking ass at DreamHack, the largest digital festival in the world. More than 15,000 visitors will be able to enjoy SCAR SYMMETRY on the main stage. DreamHack is all about digital stuff, music, games and movies. And we arrange some of the largest e-sport tournaments in the world, we show cool movies around the clock and we have some of the best and up-and-coming bands on stage."

DreamHack holds the official Guinness World Record as the largest LAN party. Last year's event was attended by more than 70,000 visitors throughout its events in the Nordic countries.

SCAR SYMMETRY's new album, "Dark Matter Dimensions", is available for streaming in its entirety on the band's MySpace page. The CD is being released in Germany today (October 2) via Nuclear Blast Records.

"Dark Matter Dimensions" track listing:

01. The Iconoclast
02. The Consciousness Eaters
03. Noumenon And Phenomenon
04. Ascension Chamber
05. Mechanical Soul Cybernetics
06. Nonhuman Era
07. Dark Matter Dimensions
08. Sculpture Void
09. A Paranthesis In Eternity
10. Frequencyshifter

"Noumenon & Phenomenon" was released as a digital download single on September 18, backed by "Nonhuman Era".

SCAR SYMMETRY parted ways with singer Christian Älvestam last year due to "business and creative differences and lack of interpersonal chemistry." The band explained at the time, "We came to a point where the band's existence was in jeopardy because of these differences, and the only way for us to continue with an inspired state of mind was to go through with this change in the lineup."

Christian has since been replaced by Roberth Karlsson (lead growl vocals and backing clean vocals) and Lars Palmqvist (lead clean vocals and backing growl vocals).

SCAR SYMMETRY's last album, "Holographic Universe", debuted at No. 33 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
