SAXON have written two tracks for the forthcoming film "Hybrid Theory", starring Noel Clarke ("Kidulthood"), Martin McCann ("Killing Bono", "Clash Of The Titans"), Martin Compston ("Disappearance Of Alice Creed"), Craig Conway ("Descent, Dog Soldiers", "Doomsday") and directed by James Erskin ("One Night in Turin"). Shooting will begin in June this year.
The tracks will be featured on SAXON's new album, "Call To Arms", and have been written specially for the film.
"Hybrid Theory" follows a group of British soldiers who find themselves in a life or death battle with an enemy beyond their wildest nightmares.
"Hybrid Theory" producer Lionel Hicks sums up the collaboration: "It's great to have a band like SAXON involved in the soundtrack to this film. These new songs really capture the mood of the film, and everyone working on it is thrilled."
SAXON recently pulled out of Australia's Soundwave festival due to delays in the recording sessions for "Call To Arms".
SAXON had a busy year in 2010, which included performing a blinding set at Download in June, where to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Monsters of Rock show, they played their legendary "Wheels of Steel" album in its entirety for the first time ever.
SAXON's last album, "Into The Labyrinth", sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 29 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. The CD was recorded at the Twilight Hall in Krefeld, Germany, under the direction of Charlie Bauerfeind.
