SATYRICON To Support CRADLE OF FILTH In North America

July 14, 2008

Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON recently entered the studio to begin recording their new album for a November 3 release via Roadrunner Records. The CD is being recorded in part at Sound City studios in Van Nuys, California, where METALLICA recently recorded its forthcoming LP.

Commented SATYRICON: "The last week and a half has been very eventful, recording vocals, brass with people from the the broadcasting orchestra and the philharmonic, last night we had a choir called Grex Vocalis in the studio and we did a big photo shoot last weekend with tame wolves and lynxs (that were not tame) at some sort of reservate up in the mountains here in Norway. Very fascinating and powerful! We also went to some locations which represent the country's dramatic nature in a great way. This week we're finishing the final recordings and preparing the album for mix. Saturday we play Kaltenbach Open Air in Austria and Monday we fly back to L.A to mix the record with Joe Barresi and do mastering with Brian Gardner. Euro tour is currently being lined up for mid November till late December these days and we're coming to back to America for the first time since '04 in January and February as direct support for CRADLE OF FILTH."

HardcoreSounds.Net conducted an interview with SATYRICON frontman Satyr at this year's Nummirock festival, which was held June 19-21 in Kauhajoki, Nummijärvi, Finland. Satyr talks about the group's forthcoming album, and SATYRICON's working relationship with its record label, Roadrunner Records. Watch the chat below.

As previously reported, SATYRICON has recruited two new members for its live shows. The rhythm guitar is now handled by French axeman Gildas Le Pape, who has been playing black and thrash metal, as well as jazz, for quite a few years. The band's new touring bassist is Victor Brandt (Sweden) from the death metal band DOMINION and TOTALT JÄVLA MÖRKER. Victor Brandt can also be heard on the new SATYRICON EP "My Skin Is Cold".

A previously unreleased SATYRICON song, "My Skin Is Cold", is included on the band's new EP of the same name, which was issued on June 2 in most of Europe.

"My Skin Is Cold" was released as a seven-inch gatefold vinyl single including a five-track CD. This is the only physical version of the EP and the packaging is said to be "truly one of a kind!"

The EP was relased via Roadrunner Records worldwide, except in Norway, where it came out through SATYRICON's new partner, Indie Recordings.
