ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA Taps Former BLACK CROWES Bassist For Upcoming Tour

November 1, 2006

Bassist Johnny Colt, who was with the BLACK CROWES in their early days, will reportedly be filling in for VOIVOD/ex-METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted on ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA's upcoming North American tour, which kicks off New Year's Eve.

Newsted was scheduled for surgery late last month to repair a torn anterior labrum in his left shoulder and a rotator cuff and bicep tear in the right. Newsted suffered the injuries while trying to catch a 90-pound bass head that had fallen from atop his amp. The surgery was to be followed by a lengthy rehab assignment that could leave him sidelined for up to nine months.

"I'm freaking out," says Newsted in October. "My heart was set on finally getting on the road with these guys, but my main focus now is to build myself back to 100%. The stage is set for the band, I wish them the best of luck."

ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA — whose lineup is completed by Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE),Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) and vocalist Lukas Rossi — will release its self-titled debut album on November 21 via Burnett/Epic Records. The track listing for the effort is as follows:
