RAY DAVIES Talks About His Collaboration With METALLICA (Video)

October 14, 2010

Ray Davies has revisited some of his greatest songs, in the process collaborating with some of the biggest names in rock on his new album, due out on November 1. It's called "See My Friends", with each track featuring THE KINKS mastermind teaming up with a different major musician. These include METALLICA, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bovi and Richie Sambora and Billy Corgan.

A video clip of Davies talking about his collaboration with METALLICA can be viewed at this location.

Says Davies: "With some tracks I had to appreciate the style of the other artists, otherwise it would have sounded unbalanced. And I wanted the album to work as an entire listening experience but each track had a life of its own."

The full track listing is:

01. Better Things - with Bruce Springsteen
02. Celluloid Heroes - with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora
03. Days/This Time Tomorrow - with Mumford & Sons
04. Long Way From Home - with Lucinda Williams and The 88
05. You Really Got Me - with METALLICA
06. Lola - with Paloma Faith
07. Waterloo Sunset - with Jackson Browne
08. 'Til The End Of The Day - with Alex Chilton and The 88
09. Dead End Street - with Amy Macdonald
10. See My Friends - with Spoon
11. This Is Where I Belong - with Black Francis
12. David Watts - with The 88
13. Tired Of Waiting - with Gary Lightbody

Commented METALLICA: "About a year ago, we had the honor of playing with Ray Davies [THE KINKS] at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25th-anniversary concert in New York . . . it was the first time we had ever met Ray and was definitely one of the highlights of our night. Fast forward a few months to the tuninig room before the show in Oslo on April 14 and there we were recording with Ray!!! How cool is that?

"Turns out that Ray has been planning to put out a record of collaborations on classic KINKS songs with a wide variety of today's musicians and lo and behold we were actually asked to be included in this stellar group spanning many genres and styles. The result is coming to your favorite place to purchase music around the world on November 1, 2010. Titled 'See My Friends', our version of 'You Really Got Me' appears on disc, or in bits and bites, alongside of Ray with Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, Lucinda Williams, Jackson Browne, Alex Chilton, Spoon, Frank Black, Billy Corgan and many others.

"We had a blast hanging out with a real legend and hope you dig it."
