February 2, 2011

Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records has inked legendary actor William Shatner to a worldwide recording deal for a space-themed concept album entitled "Seeking Major Tom", to be released later this year.

Comprised of 18 "interpretations" of classic intergalactic rock anthems, the release features guest appearances by Brian May (QUEEN),Ian Paice (DEEP PURPLE),Steve Howe (YES),Peter Frampton and former OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist and current BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde.

Last week Shatner teamed up with Zakk at Wylde's studio, The Black Label Bunker, to lay down tracks for a cover of BLACK SABBATH's classic "Iron Man".

Of Wylde, Shatner commented, "He's fantastic! I'm energized." Wylde was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Shatner and added, "He's super cool, we had an awesome time working together."
