POISONBLACK Commence Final Recording Sessions For Sophomore Album

April 16, 2006

The current lineup of POISONBLACKVille Laihiala (vocals, guitar, formerly of SENTENCED),Janne Markus (guitar),Marco Sneck (keyboards),Antti Remes (bass) and Tarmo Kanerva (drums) — entered the Tonebox studio in Oulu, Finland on April 11 to begin recording the final three songs for their sophomore album, tentatively late summer/early fall release via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Escapextacy" will be mixed and mastered at Antfarm studios in Aarhus, Denmark.

Laihiala had previously stated about the new album's musical direction: "The new one has the same spirit and theme that was on [the debut album, 'Escapextacy'], but presented with a lot more dirtier and rougher sounds without forgetting the melodies," he said. "But if you are waiting for a soft goth-rock album you'll be surprised."

In other news, POISONBLACK have scheduled a gig in Vuokatti, Finland on May 27 with AMORPHIS, TURMION KÄTILÖT and MACHINE MEN.

POISONBLACK's debut album, "Escapextacy", featured CHARON frontman Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto, who eventually left the group in order to concentrate on his touring and recording commitments with his main band.
