POISON's BRET MICHAELS Explains VINCE NEIL Shoving Incident

November 6, 2003

In a brand-new interview published in the January 2004 issue of Metal Edge magazine, POISON frontman Bret Michaels commented on the scuffle that occurred on one of the last dates of the band's summer tour involving MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil, one of the supporting acts on the bill. Michaels was very reluctant to divulge many details about the incident, but did give a brief rundown:

"The argument started between Rikki [Rockett, POISON drummer] and their bass played over something that, to this day, I couldn't tell you what it was. Apparently, Vince — I don't know if he thought it was me or whatever, but he came up to the bus and I'm signing an autograph for a mom and a daughter, and I said, 'Vince, you're standing there screaming at me, dude.' I said, 'What do you wanna do? Do you wanna fight? Do you wanna talk? What do you wanna do?' And then it just broke into all hell. All of a sudden, he turned around and shoved Big John, our bodyguard, then John grabbed him, then Vince grabbed Bobby [Dall, POISON bassist]. It got stupid, and then it got resolved, because he continued to do the rest of the dates and stuff… I consider Vince to be a friend. I think there was a little too much alcohol involved. Nothing ever really bad came from it — me and him sat in the back of the bus for two hours and talked that night."

Michaels recently hit the road in support of his new solo disc, "Songs of Life". Remaining tour dates are as follows:
