PAPA ROACH: First 'Zippo Hot Tour' Dates Surface

October 3, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: The first few dates of the Zippo Hot Tour, headlined by PAPA ROACH, have been revealed. The trek, which will also feature rap-rockers (HED) P.E., is set to begin on November 12 in Norfolk, Virginia. PAPA ROACH vocalist Jacoby Shaddix told Launch what he likes the most about the tour. "The cool thing about the Zippo Tour is each place we go, we got a different local opener," he said. "There's a competition where all these underground bands are submitting their music and then they're getting judged, and there's like a battle of the bands thing. So each market, we got a, you know, an up-and-coming artist, so it's kind of our way to throw back to the underground, 'cause that's where we came from and we got love for it. So it's gonna be a really cool tour, I'm excited."

Besides the cities already announced, the tour is expected to stop in Phoenix, Indianapolis, Tampa, Austin, Fort Lauderdale, Memphis, Albuquerque and a number of other markets.

The Zippo Hot Tour, now in its third year, holds regional competitions to promote local rock artists. The winner will land a $100,000 prize package that includes a slot on the entire tour and a private showcase for Geffen Records. The winning band will be announced on October 19.

PAPA ROACH will open for GUNS N'ROSES between October 20 and November 3. The band recently released its fourth major label album, "The Paramour Sessions".
