ORPHANED LAND Begin Work On 'Mabool'

July 24, 2003

Long-running Israeli metallers ORPHANED LAND have entered the studio to record their third full-length album, tentatively titled "Mabool", for a late 2003 release through Century Media Records. "In order to celebrate this exciting announcement, Metalist Productions have decided to raise a special event called 'Special Orphaned Concept Eve' that would be held in Tmoona Theater, on Tuesday, [August 5], [at] 22:00," according to a post on the band's site. "The event would have two parts — the first would be a screening of chosen clips from the acoustic show and others. Right after the screening, the crowd would be moved to the second part of the evening: Shows by ARAFEL, VULTURES, THE KNELL, TEARS OF ISRAFEL! The bands would also perform covers for ORPHANED songs. In the end of the event there would be an ORPHANED Special on stage, including ORPHANED LAND members."

As previously reported, ORPHANED LAND's follow-up to 1996's "El Norra Alila" will be a concept album, "telling the story of the Flood with every song reflecting a different chapter," according to an official press release. "It is planned to contain more than 65 minutes of Oriental Folk Metal and will surprise with the use of oriental, ancient instruments such as Qannun, Oud, Saz, Buzuki and oriental Percussions, side by side with distorted guitars and a mix of melodic and growled vocals. Additionally, there will be a 25-female-singer choir."
