OPETH Performs With Stand-In Bassist At Austria's NOVA ROCK Festival

Swedish metallers OPETH performed five songs at the Nova Rock festival in Austria with guest bass player Johan Niemann (THERION, DEMONOID) filling in for Martin Mendez, who stayed home to spend time with his girlfriend and newborn son.

The group's setlist was as follows:

01. Demon Of The Fall
02. Baying Of The Hounds
03. Masters Apprentices
04. Heir Apparent
05. The Drapery Falls

Mendez and girlfriend Sandra Artigas welcomed their son Noak Mendez Artigas on the morning of June 14. Weighing in at 3.7 kilograms, Noak "has already started practising slap-bass and side-to-side headbanging," according to a posting on OPETH's web site.
