OPETH, HIGH ON FIRE, BARONESS: More Unconfirmed Tour Dates Released

Swedish metallers OPETH will embark on a North American headlining tour in the fall. Support on the trek will come from HIGH ON FIRE and BARONESS. So far the following **unconfirmed** dates have been released:

Oct. 06 - San Francisco, CA @ The Regency Grand Ballroom
Oct. 08 - Las Vegas, NV @ House of Blues
Oct. 09 - Tempe, AZ @ Marquee Theatre
Oct. 10 - Albuquerque, NM @ Sunshine Theater
Oct. 14 - Kansas City, MO @ Beaumont Club
Oct. 16 - Austin, TX @ The Monarch
Oct. 21 - Orlando, FL @ House of Blues
Oct. 22 - Atlanta, GA @ Center Stage Theatre
Oct. 23 - Cincinnati, OH @ Bogart's

Note: The above-listed dates have not yet been confirmed by OPETH and should be treated as a rumor only at this point.

Mikael Åkerfeldt (vocals, guitar) and Fredrik Åkesson (guitar) of OPETH were recently interviewed by "Whiplash", a weekly metal show on Belgian national radio Studio Brussel, hosted by AFTER ALL guitarist Dries Van Damme. Listen to the chat in streaming audio in two parts: Part#1, Part#2.

OPETH was recently forced to cancel its appearances at the Peace & Love (Borlänge, Sweden on June 26),Hovefestivalen (Norway on June 27),Metaltown (Gothenborg, Sweden on June 28),and Graspop Metal Meeting (Dessel, Belgium on June 29) festivals after Mikael Åkerfeldt contracted varicella (chicken pox).

"Watershed", the new album from OPETH, sold more than 19,000 copies of in the United States in its first week of release.

"Watershed" is the follow-up to the band's acclaimed "Ghost Reveries" CD, which debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard chart back in September 2005 with first-week sales of just under 15,000. OPETH's 2003 album, "Damnation", opened with a little over 5,000 copies.

"Ghost Reveries" has sold more than 95,000 copes in the United States since its 2005 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
