October 4, 2011

Have You Scene That conducted an interview with guitarist/singer Steffen Kummerer of German progressive death metallers OBSCURA when the band played in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on September 23. You can now watch the chat below.

OBSCURA will embark on its first-ever North American headlining tour this fall. The trek will kick off on November 4 in Wilmington, Delaware and run through December 7. Support on the tour will come from ABYSMAL DAWN, LAST CHANCE TO REASON (select dates) and ENFOLD DARKNESS (select dates).

OBSCURA recently recruited Linus Klausenitzer as the band's new bassist. Linus, who is also part of the progressive metal outfit NONEUCLID, played with OBSCURA on the group's recent European tour with HATE ETERNAL as well as the North American trek alongside CHILDREN OF BODOM and the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT.

Bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling recently left OBSCURA "due to repetitive conflicting schedules with job-related obligations."

OBSCURA's latest album, "Omnivium", sold around 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 11 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

OBSCURA's previous album, "Cosmogenesis", opened with 900 units to debut at No. 71 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart.

The "Omnivium" artwork was designed and laid out by Orion Landau (ORIGIN, DYING FETUS, ZEKE, DISFEAR).

"Omnivium" was recorded at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer V. Santura (TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS). The album is based on Friedrich Schelling's "On Nature's Connection to the Spirit World".
