OBITUARY/Ex-DEICIDE Guitarist Working On EX CATHEDRA Project

August 22, 2009

Guitarist extraordinaire Ralph Santolla (OBITUARY, DEATH, DEICIDE, SEBASTIAN BACH, ICED EARTH) has released the following update to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I'm currently writing the EX CATHEDRA album with Torbjørn 'Thebon' Schei [vocals] from KEEP OF KALESSIN. Ed Warby from GOREFEST and HAIL OF BULLETS is playing drums on the album. He's one of the greatest drummers I've ever seen or known.

"It will be a concept album.

"There will be two versions of the album — one with long instrumental parts and symphonic elements, and a stripped-down, metal version.

"I hate to describe music, but I'd say it's a cross between old OZZY OSBOURNE, black metal, and BLACK SABBATH, with lots of solos and complex arrangements. The other musicians will be announced soon."

Santolla, 38, has played in many bands in the past, including EYEWITNESS, DEATH (he never recorded any of their albums, but toured with them in 1993 and appeared in "The Philosopher" video),MILLENIUM, ICED EARTH, and the SEBASTIAN BACH band.

Santolla joined OBITUARY in June 2007 as the replacement for Allen West.
