Norway's PURIFIED IN BLOOD Drops Its Name For One Concert Following Last Week's Tragedy

July 29, 2011

Norwegian metallers PURIFIED IN BLOOD will perform under the name TOMMY, HALLGEIR, SANDER, STIG, GLENN AND ANDERS at the conclusion of The Tall Ships Races at Vgen in Stavanger, Norway this Saturday night, July 30.

According to Aftenbladet.no, the members of PURIFIED IN BLOOD decided to drop their name for the concert because they felt that their moniker was inappropriate in the context of the horrifying attacks in Oslo and Utya in which 77 Norwegians lost their lives.

"We made this decision as a way of showing our respect to all who are touched by the tragic events of Utya and Oslo on Friday, July 22," says rhythm guitarist Tommy Svela.

"Like everyone else, we are strongly impacted by the events of last week, and we therefore chose to close out the event Saturday night," he adds.

PURIFIED IN BLOOD is:

Hallgeir S. Enoksen - Vocals
Sander Sagblad Loen - Lead Guitar
Tommy Svela - Guitar
Stig Skog Andersen - Bass
Anders Mosness - Battery
Glenn Reaper - Vocals

PURIFIED IN BLOOD's sophomore full-length album, "Under Black Skies", was released in June 2010 via Spinefarm Records. The CD was produced by Ashley Stubbert (a U.S. producer/engineer/mixer who moved to Norway two years ago) in the band's hometown of Stavanger, and mixed by Matt Bayles (MASTODON, ISIS, BOTCH) in Seattle.
