News Web Site Mistakenly Runs SHARON OSBOURNE Obituary

October 12, 2004

American news channel ABC News mistakenly ran an obituary of Ozzy Osbourne's wife Sharon yesterday (Oct. 11),reports ic Berkshire.co.uk.

According to the Daily Mirror, ABC published the unfinished obituary on its website after an archived template being moved to a new system went live.

The channel's testimonial to Sharon, 54, who is currently a judge on ITV's "X-Factor", was full of blank spaces to be filled in.

Describing her career as a band manager and battle with breast cancer the tribute began: "Sharon Osbourne, best known as the woman who saved Ozzy Osbourne from himself, xxx today of xxx. She was xxx."

ABC removed the write-up from its website last night.

A spokeswoman said: "It was a regrettable mistake. We apologize to Mrs. Osbourne, her family, friends and fans."

A friend of the star said: "It's tasteless. Sharon has battled cancer and Ozzy had that terrible accident — this is quite close to home."
