New VAN HALEN Album Is 'F**king Killer,' Says SEVENDUST Drummer

July 14, 2011

SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rosehas reportedly heard at least some of the upcoming VAN HALEN album, and has described it as "fucking killer. Eddie [Van Halen, guitar] hasn't sounded this good since 'Balance'. Dave's [Lee Roth] voice sounds great. Alex [Van Halen, drums] is absolutely bombastic."

More information continues to drip out about the new VAN HALEN album, which will be the first with original singer David Lee Roth since the group released 1984 in 1984. Producer Ross Hogarth spoke with Ultimate-Guitar.com about the work he did on the project, saying, "The whole VAN HALEN record has been recorded and we're all excited. We have just started mixing the record. I'm really stoked about it, as it is the original band, Eddie and Alex with Wolf [Eddie's son] playing bass, and David Lee Roth singing, it's the killing side of VAN HALEN at the top of their game again with Diamond Dave, and the band on fire."

Hogarth's comments follow those of ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti, who recently said in an interview that he had gotten an opportunity to hear the album through his friendship with Wolfgang. Tremonti said that the album sounded like "vintage VAN HALEN."

Meanwhile, MelodicRock.com has reported that a source close to the group says a world tour in support of the new album will kick off in November, which means the disc itself should be out this fall.

Rumors continue to swirl that a single will emerge sometime this month. Roth recently posted a message on his web site that simply said, "Get ready."

VAN HALEN is already confirmed to perform at Australia's Soundwave Revolution festival this September and October.
