New SMASHING PUMPKINS Single Confirmed For September

July 31, 2008

The Pulse of Radio reports that the SMASHING PUMPKINS will issue a new single called "G.L.O.W." in early September, according to the Los Angeles Times. The song will be the first released by the band since it parted ways with Reprise Records earlier this year. Frontman Billy Corgan explained, "We feel we have finally turned the corner....where it's starting to feel like our music again, and not theirs, whoever 'they'might be." Corgan also said that the group "plans to start recording a new multi-year, multi-release concept album by the end of this year. It will be very trippy and hopefully unique, and we'll probably keep putting out singles here."

The SMASHING PUMPKINS will begin a late summer tour on August 8 in Davenport, Iowa, with shows also planned for the fall in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago to celebrate the group's 20th anniversary.
