MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO: Simi Valley Performance Filmed For Upcoming DVD

July 21, 2008

Guitarist Michael Angelo Batio's (NITRO, HOLLAND) sold-out performance on July 9, 2008 at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center in California was filmed for the upcoming DVD "The Neoclassical Power Approach", tentatively due before the end of the year via M.A.C.E. Music and Metal Method Productions. Additionally, Michael has begun work on a second "Metal Method" DVD focusing on neoclassical guitar concepts, also with a tentative 2008 release date.

Throughout the first half of 2008, Michael has been featured in several publications highlighting his successful career in music. Guitar World magazine released the ninety-minute "Learn To Shred" DVD available at magazine displays worldwide. The DVD features a culmination of segments drawn from Michael's "Time To Burn" column published monthly by Guitar World magazine and, until now, were only available to premium subscribers. The Guitar World magazine film crew visited Michael at his Monster Mix studio in Chicago, Illinois on June 4, 2008 where the magazine showcased and profiled Michael with his massive personal guitar collection, studio equipment, and much more. Michael's profile will be featured in the October 2008 issue of Guitar World as both part of the magazine and accompanying DVD.

Michael's "Speed Kills" and "Speed Lives" DVDs have been revamped and updated for 2008. The discs now contain "scorch files" so one can view, study, and play the tablature at any desired speed. Additionally, the enhanced video contains a downloadable PDF booklet. Michael also performed a major guest guitarist segment on former CREED/current ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti's first instructional DVD, "The Sound and The Story", due July 2008.

Michael was covered, alongside guitar greats Joe Satriani and John Petrucci, in the July 2008 issue of Guitar World magazine as part of a feature article entitled "How To Improve Your Speed". Additionally, Michael received three honors in three major music publications in April 2008, including being named one of the "50 fastest Guitar Players of All Time" by Guitar World magazine, one of the "20 Greatest Shredders" of all time by Total Guitar magazine in the UK and one of the "20 Greatest Chicago Guitarists of All Time" by the Illinois Entertainer.
