METALLICA's HAMMETT Says He Does Not Fear Overseas Travel

March 18, 2003

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett was recently asked if the impending war in Iraq made him think twice about traveling overseas, as the band intend to do in June when they travel to Europe to play festivals before they come back home for their Summer Sanitarium tour, which starts July 4.

"I can't wait," Hammett said. "It's been a long time since I've been to Europe. We live in California. There's earthquakes, riots, floods, whatnot. I mean, going over to Europe is as much of a risk as living in California. That's my take on it. You can't think about it. You can't let that rule your life."

METALLICA will start its European festival appearances with the Rock Im Park in Nuremberg, Germany on June 6. The group's new album, "St. Anger", is due June 10 through Elektra Records.
