METALLICA Members Get Behind The Bells Beach Preservation Society

According to Geelong Advertiser, METALLICA lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bass player Robert Trujillo have joined the fight to protect Bells Beach — a coastal locality of Victoria, Australia in Surf Coast Shire and a renowned surf beach — from development.

The Surf Coast Shire has plans to upgrade facilities at Bells and build more viewing platforms, signs and temporarily convert existing car spaces into bus bays.

Hammett and Trujillo, who surfed the famous break recently, have recorded their protest message on a video, which can be viewed below.

"We're here at Bells Beach to tell you to support and join the Bells Beach Preservation Society," Hammett says.

Trujillo adds: "Keep it real."
