METALLICA, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX, PANTERA Members Remember SLAYER's JEFF HANNEMAN

May 6, 2013

Members of METALLICA, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, PANTERA, CHILDREN OF BODOM and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY spoke to Metal Injection on the "black carpet" at the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods awards on May 2 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, California about the death of SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who passed away earlier that day at the age of 49 from liver failure. Check out the report below.

Hanneman stopped touring with SLAYER after contracting the rare flesh-eating disease necrotizing fasciitis — most likely from a spider bite — in early 2011.

Bassist Tom Araya told The Pulse Of Radio a few months ago that Hanneman was "free of the disease" and was working on rehabilitating the affected arm.

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King received a huge ovation from the crowd at the Revolver Golden Gods awards show, where he said that Hanneman would have wanted "noise" rather than a moment of silence and then drank two shots in his bandmate's honor.
