Bruce Sinofksy, one of the filmmakers behind the METALLICA documentary "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster", has told New Jersey's The Star Ledger that the he was surprised by the amount of attention generated by the movie during the recently concluded 2004 edition of the Sundance Film Festival."It's been amazing," he said. "We've never had this experience before, people fighting over (distributing) our films ... You know, as documentary filmmakers we've never had life-changing money, F.U. money. And I went to sleep the other night thinking that might change." Speaking to Australia's Undercover News recently, METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo was equally enthusiastic about the film. "It just premiered at Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews and things are going good," he said. "It was kind of an experiment. We didn't know what was going to happen or if people were even going to be interested. It's not a concert... it's not even the making of 'St. Anger'. There is definitely a chunk of 'St. Anger' in there, but it's not based on the songs, it's based on what went down and the energy of the band." "Some Kind of Monster" is planned for a general theatrical release. "Well it's going to be in the theatres first, then it will be on DVD," Robert said. "Right now there's deals being worked out and it's all coming together. Hopefully maybe in like two or three months."
