METALLICA And SLIPKNOT Add More Shows In Australia, New Zealand

April 1, 2019

METALLICA has added two more shows to its previously announced tour of Australia and New Zealand. The second Melbourne concert will take place on October 24 at Marvel Stadium and another Auckland gig is scheduled for November 2 at Mt. Smart Stadium. As with the rest of the tour, support at the shows will come from SLIPKNOT.

Fan-club presales for the newly added concerts begin Wednesday, April 3 from 1 p.m. with general tickets on sale Tuesday, April 9 at 2 p.m.

The first concert in Auckland on Thursday, October 31 sold out two weeks ago in less than 12 minutes, angering fans trying to see the band for the first time in nearly a decade. is METALLICA's first Melbourne show, on October 22, has also sold out.

It was reported last month by Stuff.co.nz that a number of METALLICA fans in New Zealand were unable to access the band's pre-sale web site.

The Fifth Member Fan Club and Legacy Member Fan Club pre-sales for the first Auckland show went live on March 12, but some fans said they were unable to access the Ticketmaster page, and could not add tickets to their cart. Some were repeatedly served an error message page.

A spokesperson for Ticketmaster denied the site had crashed and said close to 17,000 ticket had been sold during the pre-sale period.

METALLICA last visited New Zealand in 2010, when it performed in Christchurch and Auckland.

The band's "WorldWired" tour has played more than 130 shows across the world since its 2016 kick-off.
