September 6, 2012

Three of the leading gear/technology companies for both musicians and consumers alike are returning with their successful "Metal Masters" clinic series. Partnering up with Guitar Center, "Metal Masters 4" will take place in New York City on September 7 at The Gramercy. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with the clinic starting at 8:00 p.m. "Metal Masters 4" is bringing back some of the classic "Metal Masters" while adding a few new members to the list. As always, fans can expect some surprise appearances and unforgettable performances. "Metal Masters 4" will be comprised of Philip Anselmo (DOWN, ex-PANTERA),Kerry King (SLAYER),Dave Lombardo (SLAYER),Scott Ian (ANTHRAX),Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX),Frank Bello (ANTHRAX) and newly added masters Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH) and Gary Holt (EXODUS, SLAYER).

A new video update from Anselmo can be seen below. Also available are a couple of photos from today's "Metal Masters 4" soundcheck.

Speaking to Artisan News, King stated about tomorrow's "Metal Masters" event, "The reason I still do it to this day is to get Phil involved, because I think the world misses him. He's good at what he does and I'm one of the few guys he looks up to to the point where he'd come out and do it. And I'm not blowing sunshine up my ass; it's just a fact. And everybody wants to see Phil. Everybody loves Phil. When I come out, it's a huge applause. When Phil comes out, it's like somebody came back from the dead; they're not expecting it. And it's cool."

Regarding which songs fans can expect to see performed at "Metal Masters 4", King said, "We're gonna do more SLAYER stuff this time. We've been focusing on PANTERA. So we're gonna do a few… I think Holt signed on this time, so we'll probably do an EXODUS tune and just see what fucking comes of it."
