MASTODON's TROY SANDERS Interviewed On 'The House Of Zazz' (Audio)

On April 10, Sam "Blammymatazz" Hatch, host of the Hartford, Connecticut metal radio program "The House Of Zazz", conducted an interview with bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders of Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON prior to the band's performance on Heritage Hunter Tour in Wallingford, Connecticut. Troy discusses his love of music stores and the impending seven-inch releases for Record Store Day; his choice of road-worthy basses; amps and effects;vocal influences from Peter Gabriel to Josh Homme; and the awe-inspiring mystery of GHOST. He also ponders the nature of musical longevity;the never-ending supply of new culture; the shallowness of the downloading mentality; the strangeness of gracing magazine covers; and why it's so darned hard to get to "The Colony Of Birchmen" on "Rock Band 2".

MASTODON is currently taking part in a spring North American tour in support of their latest album "The Hunter", which was released by Reprise Records in September. The tour kicked off on April 4 in Portland, Maine, and will visit more than 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada before wrapping up with a hometown show at Atlanta's Masquerade Music Park on May 12. These shows feature an amazing night of powerful music featuring a dream bill with Swedish metal band OPETH as co-headliners, with special guest GHOST providing support on all dates.

MASTODON was among the nominees for the 54th annual Grammy Awards, which was held on February 12 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The band's Grammy nomination was for "Curl Of The Burl", the first single from MASTODON's new album, "The Hunter".

MASTODON received its first Grammy nomination in 2006 for the single "Colony Of Birchmen", from the band's Reprise Records debut album, "Blood Mountain".
