MAHATMA Nominated For KOREAN MUSIC AWARD

February 17, 2008

"Perseverance", the sophomore album from Korea's premier thrash metal band MAHATMA, has been nominated in the "Best Rock Album" category at the fifth annual Korean Music Awards (the Korean version of Grammy Awards).

The group's record label, Dope Entertainment, said in a statement: "It's just a sign that metal, although not as popular as the other trendy music genres, is also having its presence felt in the Korean music scene. No one can deny that our boys in MAHATMA are at the top of their game and the nomination just proves it. We want to thank all of the Korean metal fans for their continuous support because without them metal would be non-existent in Korea and bands like MAHATMA would cease to exist."

MAHATMA vocalist/guitarist JongGap commented: "As musicians, this nomination means a lot to us. It's a big honor for us to have our album up against those of other great artists in the 'Best Rock Album' category. Unfortunately, we won't be able to make it to the awards ceremony because we will be opening for SHADOWS FALL that night. If we're not busy headbanging, we will check frequently on who will be the winners. Hahaha. We would like to say thank you and send our deepest gratitude to those who voted for us."

The fifth annual Korean Music Awards will be held on March 5 at the SungGyunKwan University Hall in Seoul, Korea.
